Ever notice how a standard heating wall just doesn’t cut it when you’re jumping from a low-slung coupe to a massive SUV? It’s a headache. If your infrared lamps are just spaced evenly, you’re stuck with a lose-lose situation: you either get cold spots on the chassis or you accidentally bake the roof. We fixed this by changing how we space the lamps. Instead of a “one size fits all” approach, we tweak the vertical gaps to match the actual shape of the car.
Putting the Heat Where it Matters
It’s not just about cranking up the wattage. It’s about where that heat actually lands. To get a perfect cure, we map out the lamp spacing so the heat hits the car evenly from top to bottom. Usually, we pack more power into the middle section—that’s where the bulk of the body is, after all. And you’ve got to be careful with the gaps between the tubes. If they’re too wide, you get “striping”—those annoying visible lines in the paint because some spots cured faster than others. We overlap the radiation zones so the surface temperature stays steady, regardless of how tall the car is.
The Heavy Lifting
Heat this intense can actually warp metal. That’s why we use reinforced frames; we don’t want the wall bending the moment it gets hot. Here’s the tricky part: when you cram more lamps into a tight space for shorter cars, the heat spikes. If your ventilation isn’t beefy enough to pull that excess air out, you’ll end up frying your lamp connectors. Not a fun day at the shop. To keep things from sagging or failing, we stick with industrial-grade wiring and high-temp ceramics. It just lasts longer.
Flexibility vs. Raw Power
Now, a fixed wall is easy to wire. No brainer. But it’s not very useful if your workload changes. If you need to handle everything from a Mini to a Sprinter van, we use zoned switching. You can just kill the power to the top tiers for sedans and flip the whole array on for the big rigs. It saves a ton of electricity. Plus, it keeps you from flashing the roof too quickly. Simple, effective, and it just works.
