The quartz envelope is tough—it takes high temperatures in stride and stays steady when things heat up and cool down quickly. Halogen and carbon-filament versions push the filament temperature way up, shifting the output toward shortwave infrared. The result? Lightning-fast response. Some lamps even use a gold or reflective coating to direct the heat where you want it, and keep stray heat from going to waste. Then there are the connectors—usually R7s or Sk15. They’re chosen because they can handle the heat at the ends, keep the connection solid, and let you wire the lamp straight in without a bunch of extra hardware.
